Receive Academic Credit for Your Study

The Australian College of Ministries (ACOM) has worked with Power to Change to develop several academic study pathways to supplement your SHIFTm2M learning and application.

ACOM is offering two SHIFTm2M units which can contribute to the following undergraduate and postgraduate degrees:

  • Diploma of Ministry (only 1 unit covering all 5 phases)
  • Bachelor of Ministry
  • Bachelor of Theology
  • Graduate Certificate in Leadership
  • Master of Arts
  • Master of Theology
  • Master of Leadership

The two units, Disciplemaking Movements 1 and Disciplemaking Movements 2, follow the 5 phases of the movement framework developed in SHIFTm2M.

Unit 1 takes an in-depth look at Phases 1-3 (Preparation, Ministry Foundations and Ministry Training) as well building a biblical hermeneutic for studying the life of Christ as a model for disciplemaking and movements of multiplication.

Unit 2 builds on the first unit and focuses on Phases 3-5 (Ministry Training, Expanded Outreach and Leadership Multiplication) as well as developing a foundation for understanding Movement dynamics and contemporary examples of movements of multiplication.

These units must be started after you commence the SHIFTm2M process as Unit 1 assessments assume completion of the first half of the SHIFTm2M journey. Unit 2 assessments require learning from the remainder of the process.

The material provided in these units will develop a much broader and deeper understanding of the content and principles within SHIFTm2M. The assessments are designed to help you apply your learning to your particular ministry context.

Postgraduate Leadership Pathway

ACOM offers a 4 unit Graduate Certificate in Leadership, which can then progress into a Master of Leadership (additional 8 units).

The four Graduate Certificate in Leadership units would be SHIFTm2M Discipleship 1, SHIFTm2M Discipleship 2, Foundations for Christian Leadership, and an Elective Unit.

The Master of Leadership focuses on building leadership capacity for people involved in a wide range of religious, not-for-profit, social enterprises. Students may be working for organisations in education, welfare, aged care, disability services, local church, or other ministries requiring leadership training for ministry or mission.

In addition to the two compulsory units, Foundations of Christian Leadership and Non-Profit Governance for Ministry, there is a large selection of specialist and masters level units to choose from so you can tailor your Masters degree to your areas of interest.
